First Friday: Katy Able & Brittney Wagner
June 7 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
About the Artist:
Katy is a painter, photographer, and mixed media fine artist inspired by Colorado’s wild places. She is a Colorado native, certified Herbalist and the manager of Alpine Botanicals, our local artisan apothecary (she may also service you at Crosscut). Surrounding wilderness areas have inspired almost every area of her life, whether in making & teaching plant medicine, spending time outdoors, or capturing the beauty with her art. This is Katy’s first show in Nederland, where a broad collection of pieces will be displayed under her “Follow the Fox” moniker. Katy was trained as a sculpture major at Western State College in beautiful Gunnison, CO, where she also studied photography, figure drawing, and printmaking. Her art is placed on greeting cards and mixed media pieces, sold in select Colorado stores.
About the Music:
Brittney moved to Nederland from the Southeast just over a year ago. She toured around VA, NC, VT, TN, WV, OH, and NY playing gigs as a band leader or back-up singer. Now we get to hear her play for her first gig in CO! Brittney plays different styles of music, blended in a unique way. With hints of blues, soul, bluegrass, country, and rock n’ roll, she writes songs for the past, present and future. You’ll hear her originals mixed with covers of Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, Dixie Chicks, and old time bluegrass classics. Jon Ridnell / Blackdog will be backing her up for a full band sound.
